Write For Us

Welcome to guest blogging at iHackday. We are looking to recruit new guest bloggers to join our growing team.

This is your chance to be part of our site. Do you have what it takes to write for iHackday? Then you could become a iHackday guest author.

We're looking for guest author to help fill our site with interesting and informative articles and opinions. We want original, exciting and interesting posts.

We particularly like: stuff that hasn't been done a hundred times before, list posts, artwork, photos, info-graphics, videos, anything topical, funny writing, genuinely useful and interesting content, things that make you go 'wow'.

How can I submit a post?

Send an email to write@ihackday.com with your Pitch idea. Include links to relevant writing samples. Indicate which vertical you think it belongs in. We receive lots of admissions everyday but you will definitely hear back if we're interested.

What We're Looking For:

  • The inside scoop. This means news or stories you can't find anywhere else on the Internet.
  • Posts that relate to business, finance, or economics.
  • Relevant research studies or scientific findings. Make sure your points are bulleted and easy to read.
  • Numbered lists, tips, tricks or "How To" articles with very general information.
  • Accuracy. This includes spelling, grammar, and facts.
  • Word count. 500-800 word posts tend to do well. This is not a hard and fast rule. Take the space you need to get across what you need to say.

What we're NOT Looking For:

  • Coverage of big, breaking news stories.
  • Promotional or sponsored posts. Your post should not read like a press release, a classified ad, or appear lopsided. You should also not use your post as a recruiting tool. You should always disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
  • Extremely personal posts. Real-life examples are great, but we don't want to read about your private life.
  • Attacks. No personal attacks, conspiracy theories, defamation or gratuitous foul language.
  • Posts that infringe upon another person's intellectual property. This includes but is not limited to trade secrets, trademarks and copyrights of any type.
  • Keyword marketing or paid links. Adding keywords to increase SEO or driving readers to websites for promotional purposes is not tolerated.

Guest Blogging Rules:

  • We're all friends here so there's no need to get personal. Sometimes something is so terrible you've just got to give it a bad review, and we understand that, but anything that could be deemed an outright attack on an individual or organisation is not acceptable.
  • Maybe you have a particular favourite brand but we don't need to hear about it in every other sentence. No overt product placement please.
  • Please don't stuff your post full of links we have to remove.
  • We understand that you've put time and effort into writing a quality blog for us and you deserve credit, so we are more than happy to allow a link to your blog or your Twitter page in your author bio.
  • This is about allowing bloggers to show their work and gain exposure, so unfortunately we can't allow links to corporate/sales sites.
  • We like original copy, so please don't go trying to palm us off with duplicate content, because we'll be checking for plagiarism and cross posting. Not only will offenders not have their posts published, but we will frown disapprovingly, which gives us wrinkles, and nobody wants that.

Send your ideas for blogs to write@ihackday.com and we'll reply to the best ones.
